February 2023 Mom of the Month

Members of your family: Husband: Jake Alex (6.5) & Emily (4.5)

Hometown: Naperville

Current/Previous Career: Special Education Teacher & FIT4MOM Owner!

Fit4Mom Member Since: November 2016

How did you find Fit4Mom? I saw posts from a colleague right when I was about to have my first baby, Alex. Late night scrolling and I saw the playgroups and wanted so bad to be a part of it as I had no other mommy friends at the time. Getting out of the house in the winter with a baby was amazing. Since then I've taken every program FIT4MOM had to offer and loved everyone of them! Even 3 sessions of Run Club. For the record, I still hate running!

What do you do for our FIT4MOM Oswego Village? As the owner I manage the instructors and class schedule. I work with other small businesses to make partnerships that benefit our village and community. I also love participating in and organizing the village events that bring so many moms and families together!

Tell us your story about when, how, and why you became the owner for FIT4MOM Oswego? When Lisa, the previous owner, had announced that she was leaving the franchise, I was so sad to see it possibly end. Even though I had never been an instructor and still haven't taught a class, FIT4MOM is so much more than just a workout and I love being able to provide that for the moms in our area. You don't always know how much something means to you until its gone! I'm so lucky to have a great team of instructors that love our village and let me focus on organizing and maintaining the village as a whole.

What is your favorite exercise? Body Ignite is my favorite format. My favorite exercise are any kind of squats and my favorite stretch is a figure 4 stretch!

What is your proudest mommy moment? So many! The most recent one is Emily being dismissed from her speech IEP! I'm so proud of her progress and grateful to her school team at Brokaw!

What are three of your favorite things (besides your family)?

1) Video Games 2) Crafting 3) Binge watching TV shows

What advice would you give a new person about coming to a FIT4MOM Oswego class? Just TRY it! We are all moms from every age and stage and every fitness level. Your kid won't be the only one crying and they won't be the only one on a screen if they are! You can also go kid-free to ANY class if that's what you need, and you likely won't be the only one doing that either!

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us?

I have traveled to 49 states! Alaska is the final one!
